The Demolition Derby is designed as an unusual spectator event. Each and every entrant is subject to the following rules and regulations as set forth in the interest and safety of all, by the Sandy Creek Fire Department.

DRIVER'S ENTRY:

Officials have the right to accept or reject any and all applications.

1.) You must be 18 years of age or older, including all crew members.

2.) You must fill out an entry form prior to the Derby and include a $25.00 entry fee.

3.) You must supply your own car for the event. You may enter as many cars as there are qualifying heats unless otherwise noted on the entry form.

4.) There can be no driver switching between vehicles.

CONDUCT:

Alcoholic beverages are prohibited in the field or pit areas. Violation of the rule by any driver or crew member will result in disqualification of the vehicle and immediate removal of all persons involved. No entry fees will be refunded.

All competition rules will be outlined at the mandatory drivers meeting held 30 minutes prior to the start of the derby.

SAFETY & CAR INSPECTIONS:

No commercial vehicles, including limos, hearses or ambulances. ANY 2 or four door hardtop car is allowed. Cars are divided into two classes, small cars classified by those that have four cylinder engines and big cars classified by those that have six or eight cylinder engines. All vehicles must have a minimum 100" wheelbase. All cars must be stocked with NO modifications, including none to the suspension, body or frame. NO 4WD vehicles allowed.

HELMETS & SAFETY BELTS:

All drivers must wear an approved full face helmet with shield or safety glasses. This should also have a chin wrap around. Safety belts and quick release chest restraint shoulder harnesses are required. If should harness needs to be added to the vehicle, it must be bolted through the roof.

GLASS:

All glass (except windshield) must be removed, including headlights, taillights, and sunroof.

CAR INTERIOR:

All dirt and loose pieces must be swept out. Rear seat, rearview mirrors and sun visors must be removed. Driver's seat may be reinforced with a chain or rope.

GASOLINE/FLUIDS:

NO MORE THAN THREE (3) GALLONS IS PERMITTED IN TANK. Gas tanks must remain in original position but maybe chained or wired through the trunk. NO LEAKING GAS TANKS WHEN ENTERING PIT AREA and through the first run. NO octane over 93 is allowed.

Optional: Fuel cells may be used in DOT certified metal tank and must be securely fastened behind the driver's seat and covered with a metal enclosure. ALL antifreeze must be drained and replaced with water.

ROLL OVER BARS:

These are allowed but not required.

DOORS:

Must be ¼" chained or welded shut. Front doors are to be painted solid white with black numbers.

COSMETICS:

Wheel covers, sharp hook ornaments, mirrors, antennas and ALL chrome and plastic molding, including grills, must be removed. Protruding tail fins must be bent over. The removal of fenders and bumpers is not permitted, nor is profanity, obscene pictures or wording painted on vehicles.

TIRES:

Passenger type tires only. No snow, studded or aggressive tread tires allowed.

TRAILER HITCHES:

All trailer hitches must be removed including any added hitch brackets.

ELECTRICAL UNITS:

Battery 12 volt only, solenoid and voltage regulators may be relocated, providing they remain under the hood and forward of the firewall and not enclosed in any way.

HOOD:

All vehicles must have a 12" hole cut over the carburetor or throttle body. Hold-down springs and/or shocks must be removed. Releases are to be replaced with two (2) hood pins and NOT be chained or wore down due to fire regulations.

TRUNK:

Hold down springs and shocks must be removed. Trunk latches must be removed. Any vehicles with any compartments must be accessible for inspection.
